Medical Assistant Program
As a Medical Assisting program graduate, you will
pursue an exciting and rewarding career in the field
of medicine, and play a critical role in today’s
growing health care field. The Medical Assisting
program will train you to perform duties in the
following areas: clinical, administrative,
laboratory, and externship. Students work on
personal computers learning word-processing, typing
and practice medical billing. The program emphasizes
professionalism, client relations, critical
thinking, adherence to the ethical and legal
requirements of a medical practice, and proper
communication skills. The program also prepares the
student for a 4-week externship that takes the
classroom skills and puts them to work in a medical
office prior to graduation. Upon completion, the
graduate is well-prepared for an entry-level
position in a variety of medical settings.
Employment opportunities include positions in
physicians and other health care practitioners'
offices, clinics, and other health care facilities.

Medical
Office Specialist (Medical Billing & Coding)
Medical Billing and Coding is one of the many
medical professions designated a career fields with
great growth potential and job opportunities by the
Department of Labor. The Medical Billing program can
prepare you for a successful career as a medical
biller in a medical office, hospital, clinic,
independent billing company or medical insurance
agency. Instruction consists of theory and practice
to meet the competencies identified as necessary for
entry-level employment. These include learning how
to use the standard ICD-9 and CPT reference books,
understanding the paperwork needed to submit an
accurate claim using the various health claims forms
required by the insurance industry using medical
billing software. The emphasis is on the details and
the accuracy needed to be a competent medical biller
and coder.

Massage
Therapy
Massage Therapy is a growing industry in Las Vegas
and therapists are needed. This Massage Therapy
programs prepares you for a rewarding career as a
massage therapist in a hotel or day spa,
chiropractic office, in private practice or in the
evolving clinical practice. The massage program
introduces a variety of massage techniques that you
will use in your practice as a therapist after
graduation. The techniques you will learn include a
basic Swedish Massage, Aroma Therapy, Hydrotherapy,
an introduction to Shiatsu, Sports and Pregnancy
Massage, and other treatment and techniques that are
relevant to the local market. The program
incorporates anatomy and physiology, kinesiology,
pathology, interpersonal communication skills, and
clinic experience and covers business, professional
boundaries and ethics and prepares you to take the
National Examination for State Licensing (NESL).
During you class you will complete and submit your
application for your Nevada State License. Our

Surgical
Technology
Nevada Career Institute’s Surgical Technology
program holds the esteemed reputation of being the
first and oldest program in Las Vegas. This program
has held a programmatic accreditation from
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Programs (CAAHEP) since 1998. The
curriculum is to follow the Core Curriculum required
by Accreditation Review Committee on Education in
Surgical Technology (ARC-ST). The Surgical
Technology program includes both the didactic
(classroom) and clinical instruction necessary to
excel as a Surgical Technologist. The curriculum
provides instruction in the following subjects:
anatomy and physiology, surgical terminology,
surgical procedures, hands-on techniques during mock
surgery that includes the instrumentation used
during a variety of mock surgeries performed during
this course. You will also explore microbiology;
pharmacology; legal, moral, and ethical concepts;
and preoperative and postoperative care. The program
concludes with a 4-month clinical course giving you
real experience as a member of the surgical team in
the operating room. Employment opportunities for
graduates include positions as a Surgical
Technologist in: hospital operating rooms, surgery
centers, private office surgery suites, delivery
rooms, and central supply departments of hospitals.
