Nevada Career Institute’s Pharmacy Technician Program Earns ASHP/ACPE Accreditation
Accreditation Underscores NCI's Commitment to Excellence in Education
LAS VEGAS, Nevada—The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) recently awarded full accreditation to Nevada Career Institute’s Pharmacy Technician program. Known as the national gold standard for accreditation among pharmacists, ASHP/ACPE has been accrediting Pharmacy Technician programs for more than 35 years.
“This accreditation is a testament to NCI’s ability to deliver a Pharmacy Technician program that meets ASHP/ACPE’s rigorous requirements,” explained Divisional Director of Operations Scott DeBoer. “It also sets up our students for increased success as they step into the pharmacy field.”
Students at Nevada Career Institute participate in a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on training—a combination that helps them put their new skills into practice and hit the ground running once they graduate.
This new accreditation means NCI graduates will also be able to apply for pharmacy technician registration from the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy, which requires individuals to successfully complete an ASHP/ACPE-accredited program. NCI graduates will also find they are better candidates for open positions, since many employers look for technicians from ASHP/ACPE-accredited programs.
“We are proud to be able to continue to do our part to address the need for well-trained Pharmacy Technicians,” shared DeBoer. “We are confident these health care professionals will go on to make a difference in the lives of the patients and the communities they serve each and every day.”
