Success Education Colleges’ COO Beylor Meza Serves as Keynote Speaker for Annual CA State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists Conference
Event Highlights SEC’s Role on Leading Edge of Surgical Technology Field
ONTARIO, Calif.—On Saturday, October 12, more than 100 Surgical Technology professionals gathered for the annual California State Assembly (CA-SA) of the Association of Surgical Technologists Conference, where SEC’s Chief Operating Officer Beylor Meza delivered the keynote address. The one-day event offered continuing education credit for individuals maintaining their Surgical Technologist certification and provided unique insight into the profession as a whole.
Meza focused his keynote address on how Surgical Technology as a profession can gain and maintain the status of a higher reliability profession. “Surgical Technology must continue to ingrain in its members the pursuit of continuing education to ensure its profession achieves the same level of societal trust that the nursing profession has been able to achieve in the United States,” Meza explained in his speech. A former certified Surgical Technologist himself, Meza understands firsthand the need for lifelong professional development to not only keep skills sharp, but to remain competent in an ever-evolving health care field.
An alumni of Glendale Career College’s (GCC’s) Surgical Technologist program, which is part of the SEC Family of colleges, Meza later returned to join the ranks of GCC’s Surgical Technology faculty. After a series of roles, including establishing a Surgical Technology program at another institution as well as serving as Director of Education, Meza took on his current role as Chief Operating Officer with Success Education Colleges.
“SEC is proud to have great participation at both the state and national level in the Association of Surgical Technologists,” Meza shared. “Many of our Team Members serve in key board positions for the California State Assembly, including Fernando Mendoza, who currently serves as the President of CA-SA. This is yet another example of how SEC is committed to remaining on the leading edge of the field of Surgical Technology.”
